Match Prediction Scoring
Points are awarded for the accuracy of your goal predictions:

Closeness Bonus
When the score is not exact, an additional bonus is awarded:
1.5 × e(−0.7 × d)
Where d = |predicted home − actual home| + |predicted away − actual away|. No closeness bonus when exact score is awarded.
Special Event Scoring
- MVP (Man of the Match): Correct prediction = +2 points
- Yellow Cards: Exact number = +1 point; Within ±1 = +0.5 points
Team Structure & Consensus
- Each participant submits their own individual prediction.
- Team Consensus: Goals averaged and rounded; MVP by majority vote (captain breaks ties).
- Player leaderboard: each player's unweighted match + MVP + yellow components.
- Team final score (one per team per match):
0.7 × (sum of player individual scores ÷ roster size) + 0.3 × consensus score, then joker and SA multipliers.
- Players who do not predict count as 0 in the roster average.
Joker Rules
- Each team receives 2 Jokers for the entire tournament.
- Jokers must be activated before kickoff by the team captain.
- Effect: Doubles match, MVP, and yellow card scores for all team members on that match.
- Jokers do NOT double fact, subdivision, or participation bonuses.
Subdivision System
Subdivision Winner Bonus (top 2 fantasy teams per subdivision):
- Most stages: 1st = 5 points, 2nd = 3 points
- Third place and Final: 1st = 2 points, 2nd = 1 point
Facts Challenge
- Correct: +2 points
- Partial: +0.5 points
- Incorrect: −2 points
South Africa Bonus
If team consensus picks South Africa as winner and South Africa wins, the match score is multiplied by 2.
Timing & Lock Rules
- Individual predictions lock 24 hours before kickoff.
- Captain MVP tie-breaker deadline: 1 hour before kickoff.
- From 1 hour before kickoff, latest predictions are published on Prediction History for everyone to view.
These rules are authoritative. The engine applies all calculations automatically.
